Well, we've made it to Hong Kong...after a really looooong flight! It's been a loooooong day...that is DAYS and we're about to crash for the night at 11:45pm Hong Kong time. We started out at 4:00am from our house and flew to LAX. We then boarded the largest plane either of us has ever flown on and left LA at 11:30am on Cathay Pacific Airways (very nice, we might add!) David changed in our assigned seats for the very last row which we had all 4 seats to our selves! It was so nice to be able to pretty much lie down to sleep for a lot of the flight. The first 4-5 hours of the flight was very turbulent which was scary for Sara, but it finally setteled down and we both fell asleep for about 7 hours! When the flight is 14 1/2 hours long, sleeping for 1/2 of it is nice. But when we touched down in China it was so great to be on solid ground again. It will be interesting to make the loooong flight back with a 1 year old who barley knows us! We met another family from our travel group and we've hit it off famously. They, too, are Tennessee natives who have just moved to the LA area (where we'll be moving in Feb.) and their daughter had the same name (different inflection when pronounced in Chinese) as Abby when they were referred. There were at least 5 other families from our agency on the flight as well , including the family that had been our secret pal in the yahoo group swap, and that was great to chat with them. We have said more than once today that this is the last time we'll be doing certain things while it's just the two of us. Believe me we'll be relishing these last 2 nights of sleep alone for sure! We'll attach a few photos of our journey and update more tomorrow after we tour Hong Kong! Less that 48hours until Abby is with her forever family!
