Day 2 - December 9, 2006

Our first full and only day in Hong Kong! After a leisurely morning, CCAI set up a tour of the city for our group. We began with a traditional dim sum lunch. Unlike many at our table, David and I tried a little of everything...big surprise. But we actually liked almost everything we were served and even David got so full he couldn't finish everything off! We then all proceeded to Victoria Peak, the highest point in Hong Kong where you can get the best view of the entire city. Unfortunately today was very overcast with high amounts of smog, so our view wasn't that great, but we got some good photos anyway. Then it was on to Aberdeen Harbor and Fisherman village where we took a san pan boat ride around the harbor through the fishing village. What an experience to see how these people live IN the water. Next we were taken to a jewelry factory where we saw how jewelry is made and designed and then it was opened up to shopping. We ended up purchasing a lovely pendant of Abby's birthstone (Topaz-Citron). We thought that it might make a lovely 16th birthday gift when she's old enough to take care of it and appreciate where it came from. The last stop on the tour was Stanley Market where we purchased a few gifts for people. But by this time we were getting pretty tired and Sara was a bit car sick from the very winedy streets taken on a tour bus! When we got back to the Hotel, which is quite nice, by the way, just in time to walk over to the waterfront to catch the world's largest laser light show off of the tops and facades of many of the buildings, all choreographed to music. It was really neat. Speaking of buildings, they are all covered with Christmas messages and images all in lights! We then found a lovely Italian place for dinner and toasted our last dinner together as just the 2 of us. Sara immediately began to cry and David actually looked a little emotional as well. It makes us wonder how we will respond in less than 24 hours when Abby is handed to us for the very first time. We've already made an arrangement with another couple in our group to take video/photos of their "gotcha" moment if they will do the same for us! So, it's off to bed for the last time as a family of 2 and we have an earlier morning tomorrow as we're the first group to leave Hong Kong for our province...and we're the only group getting our babies tomorrow! Every other group has to wait until Monday! So, the next time we update we will either be just about to meet Abby or she will be A PART OF THE FAMILY! CRAZY to THINK ABOUT! Tune in tomorrow to find out! We love and miss you!

P.S. To everyone in 1940's Radio Hour, Sara is thinking of you guys often and sends EVERYONE a big "Break a Leg!"
